“At the bottom of the bottom of the bottom of creation, life lights life ” Joan Brossa
The self-portrait has always been considered the artistic genre par excellence, since the human face is one of the main objects of study in art. There are many artists who have portrayed themselves throughout history, in order to endure in time or as an infinite reflection of their state of mind. In homage to this genre, the Espacio Pepa Jordana inaugurates a collective exhibition called ‘Without trap nor cardboard’, in which 14 artists will present their most personal self-portrait proposals.
The original thing about this exhibition is that none of the authors will know the work of the rest until the day of the installation, where they will be able to see the works of their colleagues.
